Champagne Castle in the Drakenberg.

Verna filling up her water bottle

The Aliens have one of their 3 earthly beacons on the top of Champagne Castle mountain, according to a lady, now passed away, who says she was picked up by a space craft and abducted in 1947. After having their way with her they kindly returned her to the same spot.

I had a wonderful wild gallop on a clever Basotho pony mare following a guide on a very young, hardly broken pony. We raced up and down slopes on narrow rocky paths often meeting up with huge steers who shook their great horns at us. We crossed by beautiful water falls. I didn't have that much of an opportunity to enjoy the amazing views across hill sides and vast plains to tiers of craggy mountains in diminishing shades of blue grey, as I was hanging onto fist fulls of my mare's mane and working on keeping my balance. Like to all horseman the world over there is nothing funnier then seeing a rider who describes themselves as being "advanced" sitting in the fijnbos minus horse. I was determined not to be one of the. ( When we got back my guide told me with great glee that many of the so called advanced riders fall off!).
To my great regret I forgot to take my phone, i.e. camera, with me.
